Smith and Russell Mauldin. This musical is set in the small town square as a local church choir gets ready for their annual Christmas presentation. Through the eyes of a local street vendor, several heart-felt stories are retold to communicate just what makes this annual event so special. When the extraordinary act of a selfless gift is provided by a doctor to a young boy, his need for surgery is met before she will attend to her own immediate need for treatment and surgery. And as a newspaper reporter pubicizes the boy's need for surgery, he is amazed and surprised to see how God moves in the hearts of the community as they show love to a total stranger. Giving is what Christmas is all about; God sending His one and only Son to bring us a gift we did not deserve, the free gift of salvation. Combining this captivating story with familiar classic songs and hymns, along with new songs of the season, It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year is the perfect Christmas musical for your choir and congregation. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” your newest ‘Ready to Sing’ Christmas musical, was perfect for our choir and entire church this year. As I opened your choral club preview pak and read through it the first time, I was so stirred and felt as if this musical was God-inspired just for the current situation in our church. Our church family is experiencing various trials through physical afflictions, but there is a very special little baby that is less than 6 months old who is battling leukemia. As I listened and followed along with the script, I was convinced that this was the only choice for our Christmas cantata. As in the story, so many in our church and community have given selfless gifts to the baby and his family, including those who also are battling their own illnesses. Through this bad situation, God has worked good and moved in the hearts of countless people. Please join us as we pray that this baby will grow into a healthy, happy adult and bring glory to God as the little drummer boy did in the story line. I always look forward to receiving the Christmas music during June, because I have used the Ready-to-Sing Christmas musical over the past few years for our church holiday musical. What sold me on It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, was the part about the young boy needing a cochlear implant, because my husband has been hearing impaired since he was 4 years old. Now that he is bilaterally implanted, I know of the importance of receiving these implants. He has heard things with in the past year that he had never heard before - simple things like the sound of a dogs paw on the floor or the sound of the creek flowing in front of our house. I cried when I first heard this musical and I know I will cry when we present the musical in December. I truly believe that God's hand is all over this and I want to thank you for allowing this to be a part of your Christmas 2009 music. This is best Christmas program ever in my opinion. We are a small church, so we incorporated the children, choir, and the whole congregation into the program. It was truely an inspiration to everyone of every age. It was such a touching story line and so much fun to do. It would work for small or big groups easily.
